Scottish Jottings

Writings by Hamish MacEwan

Hamish MacEwan is an artist born in Scotland and now living in Jacksonville, Florida. He earned a BFA from the School of Drawing and Painting, Edinburgh College of Art, and a second degree from the College of Education, Edinburgh University. He studied at the Fogg Art Institute in Cambridge and received an MA cum laude in Fine Arts Education from Harvard University. He has held professional positions with the Boston Museum of Fine Art, served as visiting professor at the University of Iowa, as lecturer at the University of New Hampshire, and as Head of the Art Department at Jacksonville Episcopal High School. He has given solo exhibitions in New Hampshire, New York City, Boston, and Jacksonville. His paintings are found in private collections throughout the eastern United States and the United Kingdom.  In addition to his artwork, Mr. MacEwan produces cultural programs for WJCT, the PBS radio station in Jacksonville.

Here, Mr. MacEwan turns his talents to writing. His stories of his life in Scotland bring our Scottish heritage even closer to those of us in the Jacksonville area. His columns are regular features in The Scots Speak, the newsletter of the St. Andrew's Society of Jacksonville. We have singled them out here for your enjoyment.
